This rich and creamy jalapeno popper dip recipe is devoured quickly. Not too spicy and totally good, this jalapeno popper dip with crisp bacon, or not, also makes a great filling for stuffed peppers!

jalapeno popper dip recipe in white baking dish with serving spoon and tortilla chips this …

I really do love a good dip and this jalapeno dip is a winner.

There are so many versions of this recipe-some hot and some cold-but I prefer this one.

Perfect for tortilla chips or spreading on bread, or even using in place of shredded cheese for a quesadilla, this jalapeno dip recipe disappears fast.

I've eaten many a halved jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped with bacon.

They are delicious! But when I'm the one cooking I try to simplify and frankly try to avoid busy work.

Wrapping each jalapeno with cheese and then wrapping the stuffed pepper with bacon takes time.

So as far as I'm concerned this baked dip saves time and achieves the same results.

Everyone loves it!

This creamy rich dip with all the flavor of individually stuffed peppers makes this a lot quicker to make.

I use a simple baking dish and place it in the fridge until we are ready to eat. Then bake for 20 minutes and everyone is happy!

Did You Know?

What is jalapeno popper dip?

Jalapeno popper dip is the easier version of a chile rellano. Chile rellanos are a traditional Mexican dish that uses poblano or Anaheim peppers instead of jalapenos. With time someone came up with the idea of stuffing jalapenos and from there the jalapeno popper dip was invented.

Who invented jalapeno poppers?

Matt Martinez, a Texas resident, is said to have created the first poppers in the 1970's. From there it took until the 90's when they became quite popular at TGIFridays and Applebee's.

Why are they called poppers?

Because they are so easy to pop in your mouth!

Ingredients for Jalapeno Popper Dip

Pretty standard ingredients are used for this easy baked dip.

Just like any cream cheese dip the dip usually has mayonnaise so it isn't so thick. Don't like mayonnaise? Stir in some Greek yogurt.

Can this dip be made with reduced fat cream cheese, low fat sour cream and reduced fat mayo?

I haven't tried it but I don't know why not.

Don't like bacon? Just leave it out.

I make my own pickled jalapeno peppers. So easy to do and I use them on everything. However you can buy a jar if you'd like.

Want to jazz up this dip? You can make your own chile/taco seasoning or other fun seasonings to use include smoked paprika, chili onion crunch, harrisa or chili lime.

Add a can of green chilies if you like.

Cheddar and spicy Jack cheese are great but any melting cheese is good for this recipe.

Mozzarella works but I prefer a cheese with more flavor.

Fontina or havarti are great and a dip with cheese means using up all those bits taking up real estate in the fridge.

Colby or Muenster are good, too!

What To Serve With This Jalapeno Baked Dip?

Besides the ubiquitous tortilla chips, crackers or jalapeno bread are great.

Veggie dippers such as carrots, cucumber sticks and pepper strips taste great with this jalapeno dip.

Also think of this cheese dip as a base for many recipes. Use it instead of pimento cheese on a BLT or in a tomato tart.

Making appetizers for a crowd?

One dip is great and then add a side of salsa and guacamole.

Think of anything that goes with tortilla chips.

Feeding a crowd? Add this pork adobo for your main course and everyone will be drooling.

Whatever you are making there is no doubt in my mind that this cheesy jalapeno popper dip recipe will become a favorite!

They will be asking for more!

I'd love to hear if you make this recipe!

Description

This rich and creamy jalapeno popper dip recipe is devoured quickly. Not too spicy and totally good, this jalapeno popper dip with crisp bacon, or not, also makes a great filling for stuffed peppers!

Ingredients

Scale

5 thick cut bacon slices, cooked crisp and crumbled

8 oz softened cream cheese

⅓ c mayonnaise

⅓ c sour cream

2 T pickled jalapeno peppers

½ c chopped fresh jalapeno peppers (approx 2)

½ c fresh chopped cilantro (divided)

1 t each of garlic powder and onion powder

1 ½ c shredded Cheddar cheese, divided

1 ½ c Monterey Jack Pepper cheese, divided

Tortilla Chips or Crackers for Serving

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350.

Fry bacon. I do mine in the microwave by placing sliced bacon onto a paper plate. I place the paper plate on a dinner plate and cover with another paper plate to prevent splatter. Cook on high for 5 - 7 minutes or until crisp. Drain and crumble.

In a 4 cup measuring cup or a medium sized bowl, place cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, pickled jalapenos, ⅓ c of the fresh jalapenos, 3 T of cilantro, onion and garlic powder. Blend with an immersion blender.

Add 1 c of each of the cheeses and ⅓ c of crumbled bacon. Stir well with a rubber spatula and transfer to a greased baking dish or an 8" cast-iron skillet. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and bacon.

Bake about 20 minutes or until bubbling. Sprinkle with remaining jalapeno peppers and cilantro.

Serve with chips or crackers. We enjoyed ours spread on jalapeno bread.

Notes

Other seasonings may be added such as chile powder or elote corn seasoning.

This also makes a great filling or base for stuffed poblano peppers.

Thanks Southern Living for the inspiration.
