Description
This is the original Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie recipe, taken straight from her book. If you love this mall cookie you will want this recipe!
Ingredients
2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1/2 t baking soda (I am at 5280 ft and use a bit more than a 1/4 t.)
1/4 t salt
1 c (packed) dark brown sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar
2 sticks (1 cup) salted butter, softened
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 t vanilla extract
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips (about 2 cups)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 300.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, soda and salt.
In a stand mixer, blend sugars at a medium speed. Add butter and mix to form a grainy paste, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix at medium speed until just blended. Do not overmix.
Add the flour mixture and chocolate chips. Blend at low speed until just mixed.
Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased or parchment lined cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until light golden brown. I baked mine for 20 minutes. Transfer immediately to a wire rack on a cool surface.
